It's been almost 3 weeks since Bennett was born, and the time is just flying by. But since I was lucky enough to have my wonderful friend Amy come and take pictures right after Bennett was born (she got there 5 minutes after he was born, perfect timing!), I wanted to share some of the beautiful photos from his birth day. With the other boys I've gotten a couple of quick shots when they were born since Brandon and I were too busy to focus on taking photos. Bennett's birth was a wonderful experience, though if I'm being honest the 2 weeks leading up to it were not so wonderful. In fact there were quite a few days were I was cursing myself for having planned an out of hospital birth and was wishing that I could go and get some pitocin and just be done with all the waiting and unending contractions. But then on the day he was born things all seemed to fall into place. We had been planning a homebirth, but then the week prior to his due date my mom got here to help me with the new baby who hadn't arrived yet. So after much deliberation I decided to go to the freestanding birth center that my midwives deliver at (http://www.waterbirth.net) so that I could have some privacy and not be worrying about the boys and my mom. On Monday which was my actual due date I decided to go to the chiropractor to see if that would help things to progress. Then that night I didn't sleep well since I was being woken up all night with REALLY hard contractions. I did my best to ignore them and keep sleeping since by this point I no longer believed that this baby was ever coming out. When I woke up at 6:30 my contractions were about every 4-5 minutes, so I decided to call my midwife and head to the birth center. Once I got there the contractions were spacing out to every 6-8 minutes and I was worried I wasn't really progressing. But within a couple of hours I was pushing. At that point I got in the tub and 15-20 minutes later Bennett was born. I delivered him myself and the midwives just sat back and watched. That was an inredible experience, and I would definitely recommend a waterbirth if it's an option. So after all was said and done I was so happy with my birth even though I wasn't so sure at some points along the way. I wouldn't say I'd want to do it again though!!

so cute! with my mom here we are doing a whole bunch of stuff. So we will definitely hang out when she leaves.
every time I read a story of a live birth, I am reminded that 'birth works.' It chokes me up...it's so beautiful.
Love your pics and your new blog layout!
Beautiful pics! Sounds like a looong 2 weeks, but so glad he is here now! Too bad your mom didn't get to stay longer after he was born, huh?
