Camping at Silver Falls

We decided this summer we weren't going to take any big trips, and that instead we would go camping for a few days as our family vacation. And since we have little Bennett along for the ride this year, tent camping was not an option for me. So we were able to book 3 nights at Silver falls in a little cabin. We were all very excited for this trip, and had been checking the weather frequently as it has been a very rainy and cold spring/summer thus far. Up till 2 days before the forecast looked good, mid 70's and sun. Then 2 days before they started predicting rain and temps in the 50's-low 60's. Not what we wanted to hear. So the first day of our trip we spent mostly inside our cabin. We also drove to Salem to try and get a raincoat for Jamison, since we had one for the other 2 kids, but not for him. Then the next day the weather cleared up a bit, and the sun actually came out for a while in the afternoon. We also had our awesome friends come up to hang out with us that day, which was lots of fun. The dads took the oldest 2 boys on a 5 mile bike ride while Kate (who is 32 weeks pregnant) and I stayed at the cabin and hung out with the younger kids. We decided we didn't want to deliver her baby in the one room cabin, so she should probably not overexert herself. Then we took the younger boys on a nice short bike ride just around the campground. We then went on a little hike to the south falls and got these lovely photos of our hike. I love hiking by this waterfall. You get to hike behind the falls and feel the lovely spray of water on your face. It's so cool. Then we hiked back to camp and cooked up some hamburgers and hotdogs, and roasted some marshmallows. The next day we packed things up early and headed home, since we were feeling a bit done with camping. It didn't go exactly as planned, but was still a memorable trip.
