Adventures in Motherhood

This year, Bennett and I have been working on Potty Training (I’ve been working to train him to use the potty, and he’s been working hard to avoid it).  Sometimes I have to just stop and wonder “shouldn’t this be easier by now!”  I mean this is my 4th child to potty train (all boys and all trained about 2 1/2), so I think I probably have a pretty good grasp on how to go about this.  Unfortunately motherhood doesn’t seem to work that way.  I’ve found over the years that there’s a slight problem to this logic called, each child has their own personality and quirks and what works for one probably won’t work for the next one!  Plus maybe I just have less patience for it at this point.  Maybe I just want to be done with the whole process.  But I’m trying to take a step back, not stress over it, and we’ll get back to it when he’s ready.  We do have some great times together though.  He’s my little buddy all day while his big brothers are all at school, and we have so much fun most days.  I’m feeling a bit sad a nostalgic about this coming to an end when his little brother gets her in June.  So I’m trying to soak it all in, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I printed these up for Bennett’s room ages ago, and finally got them hung up, so I though I’d take a snap of it while I was taking pictures in Bennett’s room.

Are you just saying little brother to say it or do you know something that you haven't told anyone!?? I have your baby gift so don't forget to take it home with you!

Don't stress about it too much! Potty training with Josh was so terrible that I finally gave up and stopped trying altogether and figured we'd try again later. A few months later (he was about 3 1/2), he just looked at me one day and said "I have to go to the bathroom" and he got up and went, and from that moment on he was completely trained! He was a bit older, but it was so worth it!

Or you could just do what we did with Matt. We hadn't told our kids yet that we were going to Disneyland, so I made a chart for Matt and told him if he completed that many days being potty trained, we would take him to Disneyland! Fastest potty training ever. ;) Although I don't know what we would have done about the trip if he hadn't completed his chart...

I think the 4th is a challenge for some reason. Like you I thought my 4th potty training would be a peice of cake too. She has made me realize she is her own person and will do it at her own pace. I usually have them fully potty trained day and night within a few weeks. I am going on 6 months with her and she still has accidents every couple of weeks and still is in daipers at night. I don't know what it is, I have use all my old tricks and nothing seems to work. She has given me a run for my money! Do you know you are having a boy? Or are you just preping yourself so if it is, you are prepared?

It's definitely a boy, I finally decided I needed to know. I just haven't felt like making any grand announcements about it. I figure it really shouldn't matter much to anyone else (plus with Bennett I got sick of hearing everyone's comments on the subject, so I think I've been avoiding that conversation!) We are excited though about our all boy family!
