August was a tough month. We kicked off the month with a horendously awful sickness that I came down with as soon as I got home from camp at the end of July. Then we were getting ready to go on a trip down to California to visit my sister Sherri and her family. I barely made it through the week before the trip, but made it out the door with all our kids and all our stuff for a week long trip that included two 15 hour drives! Of course Brandon had to come down with the yucky stuff I had passed along to him the day we were leaving. So the trip down he was miserable the whole time. Then we got there, left immediately to go to my niece Whitney's baptism (which was very nice), and left Brandon at Sherri's since he was too sick to go. Well when we got home he looked really bad and he discovered that his incision from his lymph node removal was severely infected. So he ended up spending the first 3 days of our trip in the hospital. Then he was pretty much down for the count for the rest of the trip. So much for his plans to spend the whole week golfing. I guess the one good thing about having this happen while on vacation was that having Sherri and my parents there to help with the kids was such a huge blessing. I knew that the kids were fine with Grandma and Grandpa and Sherri and all of their cousins while I was gone at the hospital. Then while we were there we also found out on Tuesday that Grandma Jewkes had Lukemia, and then she passed away on Thursday. So once we got home from California, I did laundry packed again and hopped back in the car with the 3 boys to go to Utah. It was a long hard trip, but I'm glad we went. It was good to see everyone and to be able to say goodbye. I didn't really take many pictures during either trip since things were so crazy. But I did squeeze in a shoot with Sherri's family and got some fantastic pictures of their gorgeous family!
