4th of July Weekend

Wow, what a wild weekend. I felt like the fun was never going to end. And I just want to preface this post with the fact that some of our photos recently have been taken on Kaden's not so fantastic point and shoot camera, since I don't always like dragging my big expensive camera around with me. So while the photos aren't really up to the standards that I would like, it's better than nothing.
On Friday night we went to the Drive in to see Toy Story 3, and it was a really great movie. I also detailed my van while we were waiting for the movie and while we had the seats out of the van! Good times. Unfortunately we didn't take any photos of our outing like we normally do, but it was lots of fun.

On Saturday we went to a party that our friends the Hartleys invited us to (thanks for inviting us you guys!). It was at his parents house, and I've decided I want to be them when I grow up. Their yard was like kid heaven. Lots of fun stuff to do. His dad also has all of the equipment to make elephant ears, snow cones, funnel cakes, and cotton candy, such there was sugar in abundance. The kids were loving that as well. I'm not sure how much cotton candy my kids ate, but it was definitely over my legal limit for them.

Look at poor sad Bennett. He didn't get any cotton candy.
They guys also played some horseshoes and some wild badminton. Check out this awesome action shot of Brandon doing a backwards flip while diving for that byrdie.
Then they set off some awesome fireworks. I was scared that the grownups were going to blow themselves up trying to light too many fireworks at once, but luckily no one was hurt. So we finally went home after all the fireworks were lit, and a bit of clean up done. That was late night number 2 and we were starting to feel it.
Then on Sunday we went over to Brandon's parents for dinner, then headed to Fort Vancouver to see the fireworks. We got there around 6, and the show started at 10, so we had lots of time to kill. The kids spent a long time bugging each other and wrestling on the blankets. Finally I started taking them for walks one at a time to try and reduce the chaos.

And I have to say that Jamison is so great with Bennett. He plays with him and watches out for him all the time. It is great.

And check out Bennett standing unassisted. He's going to be off and running too soon.
Then as it was getting darker I decided to ask Brandons dad to take a photo of our whole family. Here's how it went.

I give up.
