On the Move!

Well, it looks like our family will be moving again soon.  We are buying another house, though we still own our old house and are renting it out.  We plan to hold onto the old house and hope that the market makes a bit of a comeback before we sell it.  But in the meantime we found an amazing house that is bigger than our old home, is on half an acre of beautiful forested land, and has a lovely floor plan for our family.  And all this for the same amount of money per month as we are paying to rent a 1600 sf house.  So we will be spending this next month packing (yet again), and moving into a space that is more suitable for our family.  I am so excited about this new house, and felt so at peace and at home there the other day when we went over while the inspection was happening.  We wanted to measure some things, and I also just wanted some more time to look around and remember all the details of the house.  This last 6 months have been an interesting and trying time for me.  I feel like this time has been an opportunity for us to become more aware of some of the things we need to change, and to really come up with a plan on how to do that.  We’ve also been abnormally sick during this time, and am hoping that maybe it’s just the house, and that when we move we won’t be constantly catching something.  I’ve been very blessed with my business being very busy during this time, but that was also a hard thing for me to balance with taking care of all of my other responsibilities.  I am trying to take the things I’ve learned during this time, and to figure out what is working for me and what is not, and to make the next 6 months way better than the last!  The thing I am most excited about in this new house though is the yard.  With our other 2 houses, we bought them brand new, which meant we had to landscape the yards.  And we learned that this is not our gift or calling.  I don’t mind taking care of a yard once it is done, but actually planning and installing an entire landscape, not so much.  This yard has amazing structure already there, and every time I go over there I see more and more plants that make me excited.  There are bulbs popping up all over the yard, and it makes me look forward to what this spring is going to bring!

That's a cool looking "mossy" yard. I bet you can get some neat pictures out of that. I'd go read up on the direction of the housing market though as far as holding onto your other house vs. selling it to the renters. Experts are predicting a continued slide in real estate across the country and foreclosures are supposed to rise for 2011 even though 2010 was the highest foreclosure year of all time. You know what THAT does to home values! Especially in big places like yours...
