For Labor Day weekend we finally got around to going on a campout with our favorite friends The Jefferies! It was a much anticipated event as we have been trying to go camping together again since the last campout 3 years ago, but with all the babies being born, it made things a bit difficult. But this year we made it happen, and we had a blast. Night 1 we arrived and set up camp, and then we lay out under the stars and were awed and amazed by the clear and bright night sky. Then we tried to sleep while freezing and sleeping on a deflating air mattress. The Jefferies arrived around midnight and tried sleeping in their car, but finally broke down and set up their tent, in the dark with only a cell phone to light their way (very impressive!). Saturday we woke up to a beautiful blue sky and made a yummy pancake breakfast. We then headed off to the lookout at the top of Cape Perpetua. Here is the view from the top. We hiked out to a great little lookout hut on the edge of the cliff. It was so fantastic, but the experience was dampened a bit by Bennett’s anger over being on a hiking harness, and wanting to climb up and hang over the edge of the lookout (sorry buddy, not happening!). So we headed back to the car pretty quickly.
Bennett decided the harness was ok when Brent picked him up and swung him around in it!
Then we went south to go the the store and then to go to the Heceta Head beach. Unfortunately said beach was temporarily closed. So we went back north to try and find another beach to play in the sand and maybe do some boogie boarding. When we arrived I stripped Bennett down to put hi swimsuit on, but he had other ideas!
The boys dug right in to the sand.
Then Kate offered to take the boys out and teach them to boogie board. The water was soooo cold, but the wetsuits really did help.
Kate and Jamison catching a wave. Josh and Kaden took turns burying each other in the sand.
Then Kate and I went out and boogie boarded for a while. It was so much fun, but we didn’t take any pictures (dang it). The next day we woke to blue skies in our campground, but just down the hill at the beach, it was really foggy (bummer!). We went and saw the Spouting Horn, and Devils Churn. Both were pretty spectacular.
All in all it was a wonderful trip that I hope to repeat next summer!

TARA! Your first panoramic picture TOOK MY BREATH AWAY! Gorgeous! What an incredible place to camp! It looks like a fun time was had by all. I loved the pics of the beach and the naked tow-head. It reminds me of those pics from 50 year old albums...totally classic!
That was SO FUN!! I'm very impressed that you've already blogged about it. I probably won't get around to it for another 3 months, with all I have to catch up on! BLAH! So glad to see it sooner than that.
I'm working hard to do a bit at a time right now, since when I procrastinate than it just never gets blogged (I am not as good as you about going back and blogging what I missed!). Hoping to keep up to date in the next few months, but doubt that will happen!
