This vacation was long awaited. We had been planning and saving for this trip for almost 3 years, and when the time finally came for us to go we were SO EXCITED! We left Portland full of anticipation and trepidation.
Getting through the airport in Portland wasn’t too bad and we boarded our plane to Minneapolis Minnesota, the first stop on our journey. We got to Minneapolis that night and took a shuttle from the airport to our hotel. Once we got there we headed over to the Mall of America to have dinner (since it was across the street from our hotel). There was lots of snow on the ground and it was COLD!
A photo of our hotel room (which the kids thought was HORRIBLE and so crazy that we would have to stay in a tiny room all together. I guess they’ve gotten spoiled staying at our timeshares). And one of the few photos taken in the mall of America. Kaden took a lot of photos of the ceiling! After dinner we went and got settled into our hotel and got a little bit of sleep before having to get up bright and early (4 AM) to head to the airport. The airport in Minnesota was great, and it was actually pretty smooth with the kids. I however lost my papers and had to go back for more, then I left my purse after it went through the scanner. Thankfully I noticed before too long and went back for it. I think I was a bit too tired at this point. We spent over an hour waiting on the plane while they were deicing it.
We took a few photos while we waited! We finally got going and Sully even slept for most of the flight. I got to watch a movie, and the kids were all really good. I was very grateful as the flight the night before had not been as smooth. We arrived in Orlando about lunchtime and got through the airport and got our rental car somehow. Then we headed to the Worldmark resort that we would be staying at for the next two nights.
We ended up with wet rainy weather the days that we were in Orlando, so that foiled many of the plans we had those days. We tried to go to a wetlands area to hike despite the rain, but even that was closed! Maybe there’s too many Alligators out when it rains. So instead we went to downtown Disney.
We had a great time until Carter lost his pouch with his money. It was a sad day. We ended up losing many things on this trip. Two pairs of sunglasses, a pouch of money, 2 hats, and at one point my phone (which was later found). We also lost Kaden and Bennett at one point, but they both followed the instructions we’d given them about what to do if they got lost, and we found them quickly.
After the rain and drama in this leg of the trip we were ready to head to The Keys!
