Progress

This week I've been thinking that I needed to come up with a plan to make sure Kaden is getting his piano practiced and his homework done every day. So this morning I got on the computer to print up a chart for these things, and as I did so I was thinking about our use of charts in the past, and how I would feel overwhelmed by the fact that Kaden seemed to need a chart with a reward for every little thing from getting dressed, to brushing his teeth, to going to bed when he was asked. So then we rarely followed through with it because there was too much stuff to keep track of. But as I was thinking about it today I realized that most of those every day things are pretty much a given now. Once in a while we have an off day, but usually he knows what he needs to do to get ready for school, or bed, and he does them! Also, even though I still hear from his school much more than you would for most kids, (like Jamison who I have never heard from the school in regards to his behavior) the frequency has drastically been reduced this year. So while things aren't perfect, I feel encouraged that someday things will be ok, and I won't have a 25 year old son living in my house, who I have to remind to brush his teeth and get dressed every day.

Yep, Kaden sounds a lot like Riley and Riley has been doing really good. In fact, there has only been one incident these past 2 months and that was right after Brock was born. And yet these 2 boys are the oldest and we'd like them to set the example. I've decided that Riley was sent to us to keep us on the straight and narrow cause Ryan and I keep asking ourselves what have we done wrong to try to correct it and what can we do better in the future! Right now Riley has to come home and do a page or 2 of homework before he can play with friends, games or TV and that has really worked. Then if he does it everyday without complaining he can have a treat from 7-11 on Saturday. Yep kids are fun huh? And each one is different!

I don't know Tara...I think there are quite a few 25 year olds out there whose mommies still have to remind them to brush their teeth. They are called husbands! Just Kidding!

Yeah Sherri, but then at least it's not me reminding him.
